MELODIES & BASSLINES: AOB, SACHA YONAN AND IORIE Live at Aures London

A low light, a light crowd and the bass of a herd- heavy and booming- with darts of techno loops. Blanche London’s latest event during their series at Aures, London, Conference of Birds, took over Leake Street last night.

The night was set apart by its inspiration from 12th Century Sufi poem by Farid ud-Din Attar. A night in response to literature, which added a sophisticated ambience to evening before it even begun. AOB opened the event followed by Sacha Yonan, Iorie, Santiago Garcia and headliner Mira.

What was striking though- was the energy from the beginning with AOB, resident DJ with Blanche London. Light melodies, progressive beats, teasing with bass drops. Clashing with classic house vocals and the bass turned up.

The room was covered with nets and candles; there were small elegant bird cages hanging from above. Lanterns gave the room a warm feel, and a light, otherwise we would have been in complete darkness.

The room was taken over by the smooth, but potent, melodies of the created Sufi sound, it was sexy and seductive- rhythmic and impossible not to hear. It transported me to a place I feel most relaxed. Waves of guitar and futuristic vocals carried the crowd into each bass drop.

Taking the crowd by surprise, singer and artist Iorie connected with the audience by using the right effects, people didn’t even realise he was live until into his performance. Iorie added authenticity to the event. It was clear that this line-up was a showcase of pure talent in the industry.

‘Watching someone do their thing is part of the art their making.’

Flashes of reds and orange seep through from behind the nets. You could feel the music in your core. There were sounds from around the world. It made me want to be somewhere outside of London. Somewhere natural.

As the dancefloor became full the night felt more like a party and DJs Santiago Garcia and Mira brought endless heartfelt tunes through until the morning.

Blanche London are holding their next event back at Aures with artists Innellea- all night long- in February.
